Physician’s Assistant (PA) Challenge Coin

A shortage of primary care physicians in the 1960s lead to Eugene A. Stead Jr. MD, at Duke University creating the curriculum and graduating the first class of Physician’s Assistants (PA) in 1967. Since then PA’s have considerably boosted the support of the medical community within the United States. Give this coin to a hard-working PA you know to show your appreciation and support.

The front of the coin has the traditional caduceus with the text “Physician Assistant”, “PA”, and “Cura Personalis” which means “care for the entire person”. On the reverse side there are hands with a heart shaped stethoscope and the text “Healing Hands – A Caring Touch – Compassion That Is Remembered”.
